Hurricane Ike Update

Through the substantial generosity of Nutro Products and the Animal Rescue Resource Foundation (AARF), Rescue BankSM is redistributing several hundred thousand pounds of dry, canned, and pouch dog and cat food throughout the Gulf Coast area. This is our largest redistribution to date, placing us in position to help groups beyond our immediate members. Our goal is to equitably share this donation, with first priority to organizations that were directly impacted by hurricanes Gustav and Ike, or have taken in pets to help damaged or overcrowded shelters.

If you need food donations, or know of a Gulf Coast area group that does, please contact us immediately at info@rescuebank.org. We have established a temporary (larger) warehouse in north Houston and are scheduling pickups for Wednesday afternoons, all day Saturday, and Sunday afternoons. If you cannot pick up your food, we'll work with you secure donated freight. ALL FOOD WILL BE REDISTRIBUTED BY NOVEMBER 17 OR SOONER, DEPENDING ON DEMAND. PLEASE CONTACT US NOW TO DISCUSS YOUR NEEDS AND RESERVE YOUR DONATION.

In addition to Nutro and AARF (especially Craig Neilson), we're very grateful for the assistance provided by Grubb & Ellis (commercial real estate), Toyota Lift of Houston, and ACE Hardware (Memorial Drive at Tully).

To assist our groups with rebuilding, Rescue BankSM has set up the Shelter Restoration Fund at Washington Mutual (soon to be Chase, but the WaMu signs are still up). You can make a donation through PayPal (at left), at any WaMu branch (specify "Rescue Bank"), or by mail at 1331 Upland, Building 2, Houston, TX 77043. All of your tax-deductible donation will be applied to repair and construction costs for those shelters hit hardest by Hurricane Ike.

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Foster Time!

Also, our groups STILL need foster families! Please go to our Registered Groups page and contact one or two groups to ask how you can play a key role in a very rewarding process.

Who We Are

HoldRescue BankSM is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization committed to supporting the animal rescue and rehabilitation community with much-needed supplies and services.

Operating on the "food bank" model, Rescue BankSM is a collection and redistribution point for surplus pet supplies and donations. We are working to relieve area rescue groups and fosters of one of their most difficult tasks- identifying and soliciting donors for the everyday supplies needed to keep their animals healthy.

We are also providing a much-needed service to potential donors- verification. Most small groups have a difficult time presenting up-to-date credentials, seriously diminishing their chances of corporate or foundation donations. Rescue Bank will maintain current information on rescue groups to assure donors that their contributions are actually supporting legitimate, successful animal welfare activities.

Please take a few minutes to review our mission statement, policies and procedures. Maintaining a vital, effective animal rescue and rehabilitation community is difficult, important work. We hope you'll support- and use- the services we offer.
